Service Teams

As a smaller church that emphasizes participation, every member has an important role. These roles are most evident on Sunday mornings, when the members of the congregation take turns making the weekly service happen. These responsibilities are critical in our desire to serve each other, to serve the surrounding community, and to serve God.

A monthly schedule is organized, and regular members are asked to assist with several parts of the service. There are opportunities to serve on the worship team, in the children’s church, as a greeter, or on the set-up and clean-up teams. The expectations for each role are described below.

Worship team members are asked to arrive at 10:00am. From 10 to 10:55 am, the worship team rehearses, spends a short time in prayer, and readies themselves to lead the congregation in a time of worship during the service.

Children’s church and Toddlers’ church are available. Two people work together with each group to watch the children and attend to their needs. Age-appropriate games, activities and Bible stories are used with the goal helping children grow in their faith. For Children’s Church there is a rotating team of eight persons, with one person repeating from the following week to provide continuity with the children. Toddler’s church currently has four people involved and they are developing a rotation. Teachers and assistants are provided training and oversight.

Set-up for the Sunday service begins at 10:15 am.  Because we meet in a building that is used as a martial arts studio during the week, we have to transform it into a space suitable for church on Sunday.

Sound Equipment is a responsibility that occurs from 9:30 to 10am and 12:30 to 1pm. This person is responsible for setting up and taking down the sound equipment needed for worship. The sound equipment must be set up prior to the arrival of the worship team

Clean-up after the service is usually handled by one or two people, with plenty of help from the rest of the congregation.
